SUMMARY
The Assistant Summer Camp Director is responsible for assisting the Summer Camp Director with overall supervision and direction of the summer camp program at Kamp Kiwanis in coordination with the Executive Director and other summer leadership staff including scheduling, program planning, program implementation, and summer staff supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
➢ Pre-Camp Responsibilities
o Coordinate with Summer Camp Director and Executive Director to order and pick up necessary supplies for summer camp program
o Coordinate with Summer Camp Director and Executive Director to make sure all required paperwork is complete and neatly organized prior to beginning of summer camp season
o Along with Summer Camp Director, Executive Director, and other summer leadership staff, coordinate necessary arrival/departure transportation of summer staff
o Along with Summer Camp Director, Executive Director, and other summer leadership staff, plan and implement appropriate and engaging staff training program for summer staff
➢ Supervision
o Attend and participate in staff meetings to communicate necessary information to camp staff
o Develop schedule of activities and events to be provided to summer staff
o Conduct ongoing supervision and evaluation of summer staff including Unit Leaders, Activity Counselors, and General Counselors
o Provide feedback and suggestions to summer staff, as able and needed.
o Communicate information with camper parents, as necessary.
o Maintain all required camp documentation in accordance with Department of Health and American Camp Association requirements and standards
o Assess risk management of all programs and facilities
o Along with Summer Camp Director, Executive Director, and other summer leadership staff, assist with closing of camp at end of summer camp season.
➢ Administrative Duties
o Document and report any incidents/injuries to Executive Director and/or Health Director
o Report needed repairs in writing to Camp Ranger
o Maintain inventory of supplies
o Work with director and owners on recommendations for changes.

Additional Comments/Information:

HOURS Typical working hours will be approximately Sunday 12PM to Friday 12PM for adult sessions and 12PM to Saturday 12PM for child sessions, dependent on final departure of campers and other duties. Breaks and time off will be provided. Season approximately June 2-August 24.

Requirements:

CERTIFICATION • Maintain certification in first aid issued by the American Red Cross or a certification determined by the State Commissioner of Health to provide adequate first aid training. Or ability to obtain prior to camp. • Maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Not exceeding one year in duration, in CPR for the Professional Rescuer issued by the American Red Cross or a certification determined by the State Commissioner of Health to provide an adequate level of CPR training. Or ability to obtain prior to camp.

Suggested Experience:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Ability to supervise staff and campers • Ability to meet the public • NY State Driver's License preferred • Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs • Good character, integrity, and adaptability • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control • Desire to work and live in a camp community 24 hrs. a day during summer camping Season and on other occasions. • 18 Years of Age or Older
