Executive Director Bette Bussel Announces Retirement After 30 Year Tenure

December 12, 2019

It is with mixed emotions that we write to tell you that Executive Director Bette Bussel will be stepping down from her post in the latter part of 2020. During her 29 years of leadership, Bette has been a friend, mentor, guide and ally to all of us — we truly consider her a hero to this organization.

Thanks to Bette’s foresight and leadership, she and the board have been planning for an executive transition over the past two years. With ACA, New England stronger than ever, we are now assembling a search committee to complete the final step in the process of identifying the next Executive Director that will lead us into the future of ACA, New England.

We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Bette, and we are confident that she will be there for our new Executive Director as a mentor and friend. As the time draws nearer for her departure, we will have the opportunity to honor and celebrate Bette and her work with ACA, New England. For now, we ask you to join us in wishing Bette all the best, and also join us in our excitement for what the future and what new leadership will bring to the organization.

ACA, New England is strong, and we are confident that we will continue to be an essential part of the excellence of New England Camping.
