Many of your camps are exploring ways to support campers and staff across the gender spectrum. Learnings from the Field sessions are designed for YOU to hear from camps doing this work in the field, so we are bringing some of your camp peers together to discuss the prompt “What does it mean to be gender inclusive at my camp?”
We will explore what their camps are doing (including name/pronouns, gender expansive housing, private changing areas, etc.), how and when they made those decisions, any pushback or challenges, and what’s next as it relates to gender at their camp.
You will hear from:
• Cara Bergantino, Director Camp Encore/Coda, an overnight camp in ME
• Sara Clarke, Executive Director, Episcopal Conference Center, an overnight camp also offering family camp in RI
• Hunter Hamlin, Assistant Director, Mansfield Holiday Hill Day Camp, a day camp in CT
• Keri Wood, Director of Camping Operations, West Suburban YMCA, an association with two day camps and one overnight camp in MA
We are not experts, but practitioners. So, come to hear and learn from others and pose questions you might have.
