To the outside world, camp looks a lot like magic. Camp has the ability to amaze, excite, and transform its audience with unforgettable experiences. It sparks imagination, connects people in wonderment, and changes beliefs of what is possible. Properly done, camp convinces the audience to come back again and again and promote the experience to future generations.
Camp Administrators – The Magicians Behind the Curtain
Like any terrific production, there are experts behind the scenes who work tirelessly to deliver this unique experience. The camp administrators are the experts that coordinate the performers, stagehands, resources, illumination, environment, and audience engagement. They are the glue connecting all parts of the camp program, delivering all the right things at the right time to your camp audience.
In my experience, camp administrators are also the custodians of the camp’s vision and values. They don’t only make the experience possible and amazing for the next season, they also preserve the experience and the magic for following generations.
Signs of the stealthy magicians at work include:
- Special trips so that a young camper can learn to swim, whitewater raft, or waterski
- Helping a shy camper make new friends and become an active part of the camp community
- The surprise appearance of July 4th popsicles, just as their parents once enjoyed
- New games to be played, adventures to treasure, or exciting mysteries to be solved
- Unique events to engage alumni to give their time or donations back to camp
The Importance of the Camp Admin Hall of Fame 
We at CampBrain would like to use this opportunity to honor these magicians behind the curtain. Our software is designed to empower these magicians to do what they do so well.
Every year we put together a campaign for camps to nominate their admins to be honored in our Hall of Fame. We are accepting nominations from February 2nd -March 3rd, 2023.
