A Holiday Message from ACA, New England’s Board President, Ian Moorhouse, & CEO, Michele Rowcliffe

The Magic of the Season, The Magic of Camp
Dear Friends of ACANE,
This time of year is uniquely thrilling! It’s a period of intense preparation, much like the final days leading up to the start of camp. We are busy checking off a million things yet simultaneously filled with joy at reconnecting with friends and loved ones. It’s that blend of excitement and slight panic. “Will everything be ready in time?”
We all know that feeling well. Every year, the night before camp or the New England conference star
ts, that mix of panic and anticipation sets in. But the moment we see the staff, members and volunteers arrive, bright-eyed, energetic, and eager to begin, it gives us that sudden, powerful boost. The holidays offer the same renewed energy. For some it can be a different story. If you feel overwhelmed or need anything, please reach out. We can be a friendly ear or a shoulder. We will do all we can to provide you with the resources you need or connect you with colleagues to assist you.
The enduring magic of camp, filled with special events, group gatherings, and the promise of community, reminds us of this season. It brings out the best in us, but perhaps most importantly, it consistently brings out the kid in all of us.
At ACA New England, we are fundamentally still those kids at camp, and that’s why we all love what we do. As we close out the year, we encourage you to take a moment: What ignites that inner child in you?
Hold onto that thought. Our goal for the new year isn’t just to succeed, but to intentionally seek and celebrate that inner child more often. We are very excited and energized for the new year. We have great plans for 2026, and we invite you to be a part of it all.
As always, if you need anything at all, feel free to reach out at any time.
Happy Holidays and see you all in the New Year!
Warmly,
Michele & Ian
