A Holiday Message from ACA, New England Board President, Ian Moorhouse

Dear ACA, New England Family,
I wanted to reach out to you on behalf of our staff and board, and start by wishing you and your loved ones a happy holiday season and say thank you for believing in ACA, New England. I love this time of year for reflecting and giving thanks.
During this Season of Giving, our efforts to support our Annual Fund are in full swing. If you haven’t done so, please consider donating to the ACA, New England Annual Fund to help increase our impact. More donations mean more support for camp professionals to attend high-quality educational programs, including our New England Camp Conference. I am proud to let you know that every staff and board member has pledged to support our Annual Fund, please consider joining the growing list of donors.
As President of ACA, New England, it continues to bring me immense joy to see new camp professionals attend their first-ever New England Camp Conference. Thanks to money raised as part of the Fund for the Future in honor of Bette Bussel, we’re offering opportunities for new leadership to take flight throughout our communities. If you need assistance with attending the conference, please reach out to Michele Rowcliffe.
I’ve always found solace and inspiration within our New England network. Whether it’s seeking guidance, sharing experiences, or simply connecting with fellow camp professionals, our community is a source of strength. Let’s continue to support one another and create a positive and inclusive environment. If you ever feel lost or alone, please know that we see and hear you. Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out.
The work we do as both camp professionals and a membership association is never done. Maintaining high-quality standards for programs, resources, and services we provide is of the utmost importance, and we are committed to maintaining New England’s storied legacy to continue to better serve one another. Through all the ebbs and flows, the highs and lows, all of us at American Camp Association, New England, are here for you.
There are two things that we now ask of you:
- First, it’s award season! Acknowledging the incredible programs and industry leaders with our annual awards is a wonderful honor. Please take a moment to review the list of New England Awards and nominate someone or an organization. Celebrating success, recognizing contributions, and sharing gratitude is foundational to who we are, and it’s our privilege to award the individuals who make our industry better.
- Second, I’d like to remind everyone that our Board of Directors is looking for professionals from all walks of life, whether from the camping industry or beyond, to join our table. Please take a moment to think about who should join our Board. If you are that person or know that person, please fill out this nomination form. If you have questions about this, contact me or our Executive Director, Michele.
In closing, here is your to do list:
- Donate to our annual fund
- Nominate a program and camp professional to be recognized
- Nominate an individual that will be a good fit for our board
- Have an incredibly holiday season, and
