SUMMARY:Fall Seminar: Finding Your Niche – Effective Camp Marketing
DESCRIPTION:***Online registration for this event has closed. If you’d like to join us\, we can accommodate walk-in registrations on-site. Please email gillian@acanewengland.org to let us know to expect you.*** \nHow was your camp’s enrollment this summer? Are you aiming for more campers (new and/or returning) next year and beyond? \nAll of your camps are businesses\, so for this one-day seminar\, we are going outside our camp industry bubble to learn alongside business coaches David Olchowski and Dan Callahan. Their course\, 6 Steps to Build a Better Business – and 5 Ways to Grow it\, explores key areas for business growth: Mastery\, Marketing\, Systems\, Team\, Synergy\, and Freedom. \nWe’ll spend our time together digging into one of these areas – sales and marketing. Marketing\, simply defined\, is the activity of creating\, communicating\, and delivering value to customers to satisfy their needs and wants. \nTogether\, you’ll explore effective concepts and strategies foundational to new customer (camper) acquisition and retention that you can adapt for your camp/organization\, including: \n\nidentifying your Unique Selling Proposition;\ndiversifying lead generation (e.g. referrals\, cross-promotion\, online platforms);\nmeasuring your efforts and improving your conversion rates;\nmapping out the customer journey; and\nincreasing your profit margins\n\nThroughout the day\, there will also be time to hear what camps have been doing successfully\, explore your real-world challenges in mini consultancy sessions\, and create action steps for yourselves over the coming months. \nWho is this program designed for? Camp leaders and other staff who make strategic decisions about marketing and enrollment. \nCheck-in will start at 9:30 am\, with the program kicking off at 10:00 am. \nLunch will be provided and attendees will receive 5 CECs for their participation. \n\nAbout our presenters: \n \nDavid Olchowski\, Owner and Head Coach \nDavid had a very successful 30-year career in Connecticut aerospace manufacturing. He spent the last 15 years of his career as an executive with full P&L ownership in president and general manager roles. \nLaunched in 2020\, David’s firm\, Acadia ActionCOACH\, is a team of certified business and executive coaches.  He helps driven and energetic business owners\, leaders and their teams grow their top line\, increase their profits and have more fun doing it. The critical element to his success has been a focus on people:  developing\, coaching and mentoring others to succeed. \nIn the past 5 years\, David has helped dozens of business owners and their teams grow their businesses by helping them understand how marketing and sales truly work at a practical level. Specifically\, he has worked with camps and other seasonal businesses to understand how these principles apply in their environment. These businesses saw significant top-line and bottom-line growth. \nDan Callahan\, Certified Business Coach \nDan has always had a passion for business and helping business owners. After graduating from Providence College with a degree in Business Management\, he started his career as a Financial Advisor where he built a book of over 200 clients from the ground up\, using a variety of sales and marketing strategies\, a strong referral system and customer journey. He then transitioned this knowledge to work with travel agency owners to train their teams in sales and to develop and execute marketing strategies. \nOver the past 5 years he has facilitated a plethora of group coaching programs & one-to-one coaching engagements. This includes several seasonal businesses\, one of whom grew 40% year-over-year and another who built the systems and management team for the business to run almost entirely without them. Other clients saw as much as 300% growth and successful business secession planning. \nAbout Acadia ActionCOACH \nActionCOACH is the world’s largest and most successful business coaching company. Acadia ActionCOACH is a team of certified business and executive coaches who are passionate about helping business leaders thrive by growing their top line\, increasing their profits\, and improving their operating efficiencies. Simply put:  they help business owners with challenges around TIME\, TEAM and MONEY using proven tools\, methodologies and systems\, tested and perfected over tens of thousands of businesses worldwide over the past three decades. \nRegistration fees are non-refundable\, but may be transferred to another attendee from your camp/organization by emailing gillian@acanewengland.org before the start of the program. \nThank you to our event sponsor\, Anchor Industries\, for their support!

SUMMARY:Fall Seminar: Emotional/Behavioral Management: Behind-the-Scenes & Policy Deep Dive
DESCRIPTION:***ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT HAS CLOSED.***\nThe success of your camp’s emotional/behavioral management program doesn’t start at staff training – it starts in the fall\, when you review and re-evaluate your policies\, procedures\, and paperwork. If that sounds tedious\, we promise it won’t be! \nJoin Emily Golinsky to take a deep dive into the behind-the-scenes pieces of work that form the foundation for successful summers. We’ll look at things such as: \n\nquestions you should be asking as part of your camper application/enrollment process\,\nwebsite/marketing messaging that encourages applications from campers who meet your intended population\, and\nthe fine print that explains your expectations and policies to parents/guardians.\n\nWe’ll also dig into examples of complicated behavioral situations that arose locally this past summer and how specific language and policy elements will assist with resolving those challenges. Bring your situational examples and your existing forms\, policies\, and procedures! \nFrancesca Korbas\, Esq\, is a former practicing special education attorney and civil rights investigator\, with a deep understanding of inclusivity as it relates to youth with differing abilities. Francesca will also share information and recommendations for camps related to The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)\, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (the precursor of ADA)\, and more that will help you better understand what your camp can (and maybe can’t) do. Francesca will provide guidance on how to successfully connect school year supports and IEP planning to camp inclusivity planning. \nYou’ll leave feeling energized and ready to edit your emotional/behavioral fine-print (and not-so-fine-print) in preparation for the Summer of 2025!  \nThis seminar will be beneficial for staff at both day and overnight camps who work on the administrative/policy aspects of your camp’s behavior management programs. Multiple staff per camp are welcome to attend. \nCheck-in will start at 9:30 am\, with the program kicking off at 10:00 am. \nLunch will be provided and you will earn 5 CECs for your participation in the seminar. \nAbout our Presenters: \nEmily Golinsky\, Bright Moose Training LLC \n \nEmily’s sessions get called “tremendously helpful\,” “definitely not the same-old-same-old\,” and “not to be missed–a reason to come to the conference!” Emily retired from a 15-year role as Executive Director at the therapeutically-based Camp Starfish (NH) to found Bright Moose\, LLC (www.brightmoosetraining.com)\, which provides training\, consultation\, and PD for camps\, schools and youth organizations nationwide. Emily is the VP for NHCamps and is a visitor\, NCDW faculty\, and facilitator for ACANE. She is a Special Education Advocate and MHFA Instructor\, has a BS in Health Psych and MS in Camp Admin/Leadership\, and is pursuing her Higher Ed Teaching Certificate through Harvard. Fair warning: she is an avid collector of terribly awesome puns. \n  \n  \nFrancesca Korbas\, Francesca Korbas Esq. Consulting \nFrancesca is an attorney\, a child advocate\, a disability and civil rights compliance specialist\, a mediator\, and a relationship-builder. \nShe educates individuals and entities on how to comfortably and productively ensure access to individuals with differing needs through workshops\, speaking engagements\, and private consulting sessions. Francesca specializes in providing a visible path to equity and inclusivity by providing digestible\, interactive guidance and long term skill-building supports that make entities and individuals unintimidated by disability\, civil rights and educational compliance. \nA former special education attorney and civil rights investigator\, Francesca brings a deep understanding of the systems individuals and entities are up against and the overwhelm of information they are confronted with in ensuring compliance. Trained in mediation\, Francesca brings an unbiased\, curious and facilitating approach to her educational guidance and consulting services. \nFrancesca is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts\, Amherst and Suffolk University School of Law. A licensed attorney\, Francesca no longer formally represents clients and instead uses her background to empower and educate. \nThank you to our event sponsor\, Brio Custom\, for their support!
