SUMMARY:Accreditation Volunteer Course
DESCRIPTION:ACA New England needs YOU to join an amazing team of volunteers!\nJoin us for our next Accreditation Volunteer Course (formerly known as the Associate Visitors Course).\nDue to low enrollment\, the 10/22 offering has been cancelled. However\, there are lots more opportunities throughout the year (see the application below). \nThis course is a two part training: AVC PART 1 is a self-paced online pre-course and AVC PART 2 is a live session with trained facilitators. Participants must attend all learning sessions over the timeframe to successfully become an accreditation volunteer. This course requires active participation and engagement. \nACA’s accreditation program is the only national peer review program of its kind for the camp industry. Being an ACA accreditation volunteer (visitor) provides you with the experience to build your network\, polish your skills in observation and risk management\, and develop mentoring opportunities for both you and the camps you work with. As much as you give to this experience\, you’ll gain from new ideas\, perspectives\, and approaches to the mission-driven work of the camp industry. \nTo become an accreditation volunteer\, please complete these steps: \n\nSubmit an Accreditation Volunteer Application (online) \n\nOn the form\, you’ll indicate which Accreditation Volunteer Course Part II you want to take (formerly known as the Associate Visitors Course) – FREE\n\n\n\nOnce you are registered for the course\, you’ll be enrolled in the required online pre-course work (AVC PART 1 up to 8 hours) a month prior to your PART 2 course. This self-paced\, interactive online pre-course work includes the Accreditation Process Workshop so you are up to date as well as roles and responsibilities of an accreditation volunteer\, compliance demonstration\, scoring\, and mandatory standards. This online pre-work must be successfully completed in order to attend the Accreditation Volunteer Course PART 2. \nTo become an accreditation volunteer\, you must fully attend and participate in ALL parts of AVC PART 1 & AVC PART 2 (this is a live in-person session with trained facilitators. During this portion\, participants will be engaged in practicing and demonstrating essential skills needed in conducting accreditation visits along with conducting a mock accreditation visit). \nWant to become an accreditation volunteer/visitor\, but this AVC PART 2 date doesn’t work for your schedule? Complete the Accreditation Volunteer Application and choose from another live virtual or in-person course. \nAdditional steps (once 1 & 2 are done): \n\nReview the ACA Associate Visitor/Visitor Service Description.\nReview and be ready to sign the Volunteer Conflict of Interest and Code of Conduct.\nMake sure you are a current ACA individual member (contact us if you have questions about this. We also offer a discounted membership rate for visitors).

SUMMARY:Accreditation Process Workshop 11/10
DESCRIPTION:Formerly the Standards Course\, this workshop is designed for camp representatives who are preparing for accreditation visits in 2019 and beyond. The course is appropriate for those who are new to the accreditation process AND those who have been part of an accreditation visit or completed standards training in the past. Every camp being visited must have at least one person who completes the workshop on behalf of the camp; that person must actively assist in preparation for the accreditation visit\, be on site a significant amount of time during the camp season and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit. \nReminder: While APWs are free to attend\, you must register so we are sufficiently prepared for the course.

SUMMARY:So\, How Was Your Summer? 9/28
DESCRIPTION:After the longest “summer” in recent memory\, we could all use a little time to ourselves. Once you’re done with that\, take this opportunity to congregate\, commiserate\, share and opine about the summer with other camp professionals and colleagues. What worked for you? What didn’t work? Where are you heading next\, and what does that look like? \nOur time together will include: \n\nShort introduction and recap of what we heard in the New England office this summer.\nMultiple blocks of guided\, small group conversations with breaks for non-structured socializing or to grab a snack.\nRandomized seating to encourage as many connections as possible.\nSnacks and beverages.\n\nTopics du jour will cover: staffing\, programming\, lessons learned\, new goals realized\, and of course whatever organically grows around the tables. If you have a question or topic you know you want covered\, shoot an email to bud@acanewengland.org after registering. \nNOTE: We plan to host this event outside\, so please dress accordingly. Should we need to adjust this\, we will notify registered attendees of their options in advance?\nMembers: $25 – Non-members: $40
