DESCRIPTION:**ONLINE REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED. If interested in attending\, please call ACA\, New England at 781-541-6080 to see if we can accommodate you.**\nSend your front-line camp staff (i.e.: counselors\, unit leads\, activity directors) to this energizing and informative day in Boston! $25/person or save 20% when you send 5 or more. Attendees will leave with tangible tools\, excitement for the summer\, and fresh perspective to help with the weeks ahead. \nAgenda \n\n9:30 am: Check-in and coffee\n10:00 am: Welcoming remarks and icebreakers\n10:30 am: Play-note with Jeff Frigon (Team building and fostering connection & community at camp)\n12:00 pm: LUNCH (Included with Registration)\n1:00 pm: Breakout session 1 (See below for descriptions)\n2:15 pm: Breakout session 2 (See below for descriptions)\n\nBreakout topics include: “Campifying” any space; conflict and communication; supporting self-awareness; behavior contracts for creating community.\n\n\n3:20 – 3:50 pm: Closing and raffle.\n\nAfternoon Breakout Sessions – Four options. Choose one for each block \nEach session will be offered twice\, during Rotation 1 (1:00 – 2:00 PM) and Rotation 2 (2:15 – 3:15 PM)  \n\nSupporting Self-Awareness Through Social Emotional Learning (SEL)\nAmy Boyd\, CEO and Founder\, C.O.G.S. Connections\, Level 7 Life Coach\, & Unit Leader at Camp Robindel \n\nIn this session\, you’ll learn about Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and the benefits of SEL. Using the ‘SEL SSE ME Mind Mastery COG’: A practical framework that camps can implement into their community\, you will build your abilities to aid campers strengthen and value their social-emotional skills so they are better equipped to cope with everyday challenges and to build a camp community that thrives off of empathy\, support and belonging. You will walk away with practical steps to support campers to improve their self-awareness\, so that they can recognize and regulate their emotions.\n\n\nFull Value Contract\, Community Norms\, Cabin Rules\nJeff Frigon\, Director of Youth & Student Programs & Challenge Course Manager. The Browne Center for Innovative Learning at UNH \n\nThey are all the same thing: guidelines for how we want to be together as a community.  Helping our campers build their own norms in fun\, engaging ways makes it easier to help them (and us as Staff) walk the talk of holding each other to high standards of care\, accountability\, and fun.  Come learn pro-tips and tricks and a whole lot of variations on building community norms and how to use them to celebrate successes and have challenging conversations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow Music and Teambuilding “Campify” any Environment\nDoug Sutherland\, DEIB & Camp Consulting. Over 20 years of New England camp experience. \n\nYou ever listen to a song and feel alive\, energized\, and/or inspired? For me\, there are five songs that have inspired me to create\, adapt\, and use teambuilding activities to work with groups\, “Stand Up” by Cynthia Eviro\, “This is Me” from the Greatest Showman by Keala Settle\, “Teamwork” by Kenzie\, “Dance to the Music” by Sly and the Family Stone\, and “So What’Cha Want” by the Beatie Boys. This session will take those five songs and incorporate them into activities you can use for your staff\, to inspire\, or maybe just be a little silly\n\n\n\n\nConquering Conflict: Building Bridges through Skillful Communication\nElizabeth Snell\, Director of Accreditation Services at ACA\, New England; Amelia Luke\, Operations Coordinator at ACA\, New England – combined 30+ years of camp experience. \n\nConflict  is normal and can even be healthy if you know how to handle it well! This session is designed to equip you with the essential skills to navigate conflict effectively. Through interactive activities\, strategies\, and discussion\, participants will leave feeling ready to resolve conflict and build stronger relationships at work.\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Information\nBoston College (BC) High is accessible by public transportation (5 minute walk from the MBTA JFK/UMass stop on the red line) and has ample parking. He got his start in Camps at Camp Nashoba North in 1994 & has worked in many environments; therapeutic-adventure with Outward Bound\, Classroom-based with the Exeter Alternative High School\, and has been working with youth and adults as an educational consultant at The Browne Center as well as teaching at UNH since 2010. Jeff holds a B.S. in Outdoor Education and Psychology from UNH and an M.S. in Experiential Education from The University of Minnesota. When not at work\, Jeff spends as much time adventuring as possible: surfing\, kayaking\, SUPing\, backcountry snowboarding\, MTB and road biking\, and spending QT with his wife\, Steph and dog\, Salty. \n  \n\nAmy Boyd – Amy is the CEO and Founder of coaching service C.O.G.S. Connections\, and a qualified Level 7 Life Coach specialising in personal and professional development for adults and adolescents. All of our coaching frameworks are centred around Emotional Intelligence (EQ) to champion social emotional health and wellbeing. Amy is an international public speaker delivering topics to help others overcome limiting beliefs\, and adopting a positive mindset through EQ. She guides audiences to find their voice\, drawing on her system to support the development of EQ: ‘SEL S.E.E. M.E. Mind Mastery’ through awareness\, authenticity and the telling of anecdotes\, which incite courageous conversations to leave them with life-enhancing takeaways. \n\n\n\n\n\nDoug Sutherland – Originally from St. Louis\, MO\, Doug moved to New Hampshire to work directly with children and adults in the outdoors. Summer camp is Doug’s happy place. Currently\, he is working as a DEI Facilitator and Consultant and he is a member of the ACA\, New England Board. His love of camp comes after family\, friends\, and building enriching communities. Actually\, this is pretty similar to camp. \n  \n  \n  \nElizabeth Snell – Elizabeth\, New England’s Director of Accreditation Services\, works with all things Accreditation and the New Camp Director Workshops. \nElizabeth grew up in Long Pond Pennsylvania. Starting as a camper at age 8\, she never left camp.  After a short time in Indiana\, she was very excited to come back east to work at ACA\, New England. \nElizabeth has a B.A. in English from Alvernia College\, MS.Ed in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg University and a Masters in Camp Administration from Indiana University. \n  \n  \n \nAmelia Luke – If you call the ACA\, New England office\, you’ll likely hear Amelia’s friendly voice on the other end. However\, as ACA New England’s Operations Coordinator\, you can think of her as a Jane of all trades\, dabbling in many of the projects that the team works on. Amelia’s camp experience began at age 4 when she attended Wanakee in Meredith\, New Hampshire for the first time– she hasn’t looked back since. Amelia attended camp every summer after and served five summers on staff at Wanakee in varying roles from Counselor to Operations Director. \nHer passion for camp is\, in part\, what inspired her to pursue a Masters in Public Administration at the University of Vermont\, after earning her B.S. in Public Communications there.
