We know there are different definitions that different groups, programs, and events use. We will announce times/locations for Kindred and Affinity Gatherings as the event date nears. If you’d like to see a certain group have a time/space and are willing to help “host” the group by welcoming attendees and providing prompts to keep the conversation going, please email kerry@acanewengland.org by February 1. ACA uses the following definitions for these groups:

  • A Kindred Gathering is for conversations and sharing around a specific professional interest (e.g. EPIC)
  • An Affinity Gathering is a time for those sharing in a specific personal identity (e.g. BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Women in Camping). These are designed so you can come for part or all of the session and there will be some guided prompts during the time. While allies are incredibly important, these gatherings are not for them.
