Key Responsibilities: Organizes, plans, schedules, and manages sailing program. Prepares, manages and evaluates a sailing curriculum that is progressive, skill based, and includes water based, land based, and inclement weather activities for all sailing levels and all ages. Maintains good public relations and healthy communication with campers, their parents, fellow staff, and the community, in person and online. Participates in pre-camp training, and assists in the opening and closing of camp. Maintains accurate, up to date records; submits reports and evaluations on time as requested. Actively participates in administrative responsibilities, decision-making, and support services as a member of the camp administration team. Supervises, supports, schedules, and evaluates sailing counselors. Works with Waterfront Director, Camp Directors, and other administrative staff to effectively schedule, coordinate, and supervise programs related to sailing and the waterfront and sailing staff including free sails and lunch sails. Works with unit staff to implement free sails and other non-instructional sailing events at camp. Ensures that sailing safety is enforced for anyone using sailboats or motor boats at camp. Cares for and repairs sail boats, motor boats, and other sailing related equipment at camp. Makes recommendations for professional repairs beyond skill level. Report any maintenance needs in a timely manner. Teaches sailing classes for campers in all various types of boats at camp both on Long Pond and Pleasant Bay. All other duties as assigned.
