Outdoor Education Director - Skylemar


Job Description

Camp Skylemar (Naples, Maine) is looking for a fun, energetic, creative person who is enthusiastic about working with boys ages 8-16 to be our outdoor education director this summer. He/She will teach classes, promote leadership and lead/oversee hikes and overnight camping trips.

Skylemar seeks a leader who will be a positive influence on our campers, supporting them throughout trips/activities and creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Experience in backpacking, outfitting, team building, hiking, canoeing, fishing, natural history, and environmental education is helpful but not all required.

Responsibilities include trip logistics, keeping trip log/notes, communicating with directors about the trips, preparing & cooking meals and making decisions about weather and other factors that may affect outcome of the trips.

Salary of $3,000 - $4,000 plus housing, meals, internet access, laundry service and travel stipend.

Camp Skylemar is a well-established (since 1948) recreational summer camp, located in the Lakes Region of southern Maine. Located on a 200 acre wooded campsite overlooking the White Mountains and a beautiful spring-fed lake, Skylemar offers a nurturing atmosphere with an emphasis on FUN.

We prefer applicants to be 21 and have a clean driving record. WFA, WFR, CPR, Maine Trip Leader, Lifeguard, First Aid certifications preferred. If applicant does not have these certifications, we will help arrange in acquiring prior to start of camp season.


Previous teaching and trip leading experience.
