Executive Director/Camp Director

Serves as the TSC’s principal camp professional/camp director
Reports to the President of the TSC Board of Directors
Works with the officers and TSC Board of Directors on all aspects of our program: summer operations, winter programs, finance/operating budget/reporting, and fundraising

Is the TSC’s principal point of contact for social service agency partners, parents, staff, and campers
Works day to day with two year round associates: the Assistant Camp Director (a year round position to be hired by the Executive Director) and the Director of Development and Administration.

The Summer Camp (TSC), thesummercamp.org, is a nonprofit, residential summer camp located in Readfield, ME, for urban and rural girls, ages 7-18, from low-income and foster homes in the northeast that has achieved recognition from the social service and residential camp community. For 40 summers, we have provided an inclusive, supportive, and safe environment where campers explore fun, challenging, and educational experiences; learn from positive role models; and build skills for life year after year. Donor support provides full camperships for each girl every summer. We stand against discrimination and celebrate the diversity of our campers and staff.

Requirements:

Enthusiasm and passion for working with youth and young adults from underserved and at-risk communities Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively Commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for a diverse camper population Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Suggested Experience:

Bachelor's degree/social work degree or experience/ strong understanding of child development Previous experience as a camp director or a similar role Experience in program development and implementation Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities Experience with budget management and financial planning Ability to develop and implement outdoor education and recreational activities
