JCC of Greater Boston is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Leventhal-Sidman Camps! We are looking for a collaborative, creative, and fun self-starter to serve as a thought partner alongside the Camp Director in the planning, implementation and coordination of camp programs and operations. This role is an essential part of the camp management team, and the ideal candidate will have strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as a passion for youth development. Primary responsibilities include, Leadership and Growth, Camp Operations and Oversight, Financial Management, Reporting and Analytics, as well as Safety, Environment and Regulatory Compliance.

This full-time, year-round salaried position offers a comprehensive benefits package, a supportive work environment, with a hybrid work option in the off-season, and a competitive starting salary of $70,000 – $75,000 annually.

Requirements:

Skills and Abilities: Ability to manage complex projects independently. Self-starter who takes the initiative. Exhibits collaboration and leadership skills, including teamwork, patience, flexibility, and diplomacy. Ability and commitment to build strong relationships with campers, parents, co-workers, and camp leadership. Ability to manage situations effectively and ask for help, guidance, or clarification when needed. Safety awareness and ability to manage and/or communicate any issues and concerns with supervisors. Demonstrates positive attitude at all times. Knowledge and familiarity with the needs of families with young children and teens. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage projects and deadlines with great attention to detail and maintaining high quality standards. Physical Requirements: Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds (boxes of supplies, children’s backpacks, etc.). Able to sit and kneel; getting down at eye level with children regularly. Able to work physically on-site/in person during the camping season/summer months. Suggested Experience:

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. Focus on management, education, developmental psychology, inclusion or related field preferred. Has 3-5 years of relevant leadership experience, with a minimum of 2 years of successful management and supervisory experience, preferably in camping, including leading, motivating, mentoring, supporting and managing staff. Must have strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.
