Summer is calling! Are you ready to spend your summer leading a group of campers on a journey filled with amazing learning experiences, laughter, and lifelong memories? If you are up for the challenge, we want you to join our team as WATERFRONT DIRECTOR! GSEMA has a day camp opening for a WATERFRONT DIRECTOR at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines (WIP) Day Camp located in Plymouth, MA.

We are looking for individuals who are energetic and have a passion for working with youth. Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) offers invaluable skill-building, leadership, training, and enrichment opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else. So, whether you’re an experienced camp counselor or just looking to gain new experiences, we welcome you to apply.

This position requires you to be at least 21 years of age (as of June 15, 2025) and  have experience supervising others.

Did you know?!  If you do not have current Red Cross Lifeguard Training but you have a willingness to become certified, we offer training – FOR FREE!

Hours and Work Environment

Camp Dates are June 28 – August 16, 2025. Camp runs Monday – Friday and staff will have 40-hour work weeks. The camp season includes 1 week of training.

Pay Rate:

$18.00 per hour with additional money-earning opportunities available: extended day, bus monitor, late-night sessions, etc.

A WATERFRONT DIRECTOR will:

  • Lead and manage the waterfront program, ensuring safety and skill development.
  • Supervise waterfront lifeguards and maintain care of waterfront equipment.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive camp environment through mentorship and collaboration with staff and campers.
  • Plan and adapt age-appropriate activities aligned with Girl Scout program goals.
  • Ensure camp facilities and equipment are safe and report maintenance issues.
  • Monitor camper behavior and respond to safety or health concerns.
  • Provide excellent customer service to campers and families.
  • Participate in required trainings and adhere to Girl Scout, ACA, and safety standards.
  • Assist with camp opening/closing and other duties as needed.

Camp Wind-in-the-Pines Day Camp in Plymouth, MA Camp Wind-in-the-Pines offers campers entering kindergarten through 12th grade the life-changing experience of summer camp. Located in Plymouth, MA, the camp offers over 140 acres of woodland to explore and a spectacular waterfront. In addition to traditional camp activities such as songs, games and campfires, campers can participate in activities in arts and crafts, swimming, boating, science exploration, day trips, and more!

Is this you?

  • Age 21+ by June 15, 2025
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent OR have a willingness to become certified.
  • Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR OR have a willingness to become certified.
  • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
  • Ability to assist in teaching an activity.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control.
  • Ability to work within the camp environment (work may be indoors or outdoors and may be hot, humid, rainy or cool weather.)
  • Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment.
Other Requirements This position will require successful completion of background checks and an active membership in the Girl Scout Movement.
