POSITION SUMMARY:  The Agassiz Village TAP Coordinator is directly responsible for developing and leading the Leader-in-Training (LIT) curriculum, organizing the program sessions and events, and coordinating any projects and special activities for the LITs aged 16-17.  Time might also be spent as Cabin Counselor overseeing activities of the teen groups.


The LIT Coordinator works closely with the Teen Leader, Assistant Teen Leader, Summer Program Director, Program Director and Camp Director to ensure a service vision and mission for Agassiz Village Summer Camp Program.



21 years of age or older;
In good physical condition;
Experience in work and/or play interaction with children;
Understanding at-risk youth;
Excellent verbal communications skills;
Commit to the entire summer season;
Strong interest in motivating campers and staff to effective action;
Be able to work as a team member;
Demonstrate integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Agassiz Village;
Possess the following qualities: patience, compassion, fairness, great listening skills, and the ability to relate to children.


This position requires a consistently high energy level, a very high level of visual awareness, humor, creativity, the ability to recognize unhappiness and nurture children accordingly, and the desire to be a positive influence on the lives of children.


The LIT Coordinator shall:

Develop a program curriculum to meet the established goals and outcomes of the Teen Advancement Program.
Lead any teen leadership program-related workshops/activities.
Coordinate with the director any service or other projects during the program.
Provide leadership and role-positive role modeling to the campers and counselors assigned to the program.

Act as a role model in all aspects of camp and be expected to be fully and actively always engaged with campers (and counselors) while on duty (including meals, cabin activities, program areas, special and all-camp events, etc.).
Plan and execute specific teen cabin group activities as necessary.
Plan and execute teen camper skills assessment and evaluation system.
Respect the daily schedule of camp and ensure the teen program schedule fits in it.
Promote and encourage program participation and positive behavior (i.e., sound judgment, calm problem-solving, enthusiasm, appropriate use of language, silence during announcements, etc.).
Provide teen camper feedback to the Village Leader.
Provide direction/support and work together as a team with cabin counselor(s) in the program, creating a trustworthy, fun, and enjoyable environment.
Supervise and/or assist in daily cabin activities, rest period, meals, bedtime preparation, as necessary.
Work closely with the Teen Leaders and Program Directors in coordinating activities.
Rotate with other staff, monitoring after lights out – “on duty”.
Provide feedback, program evaluation, and future recommendations to camp director at the end of the season.
Accept direction and feedback from supervisors and follow through appropriately.
Act as a responsible member of the camp community both in and outside of the camp environment during periods of employment.
Participate in staff and other meetings, such as in-service training and staff development and orientation activities.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
