Many of you have been saying you’d like more organized opportunities to connect with and learn from your peers in the camping field, and we are listening!

Join a group of seasoned camp directors for peer driven monthly discussions at the ACA New England offices in Lexington, MA starting in October 2018 and running through May 2019. This new round table series, facilitated by well-known camp consultant and advocate Bob Ditter, will provide experienced directors with a safe and professional place to discuss issues of common concern. Topics might include:

  • Parent issues—Working with over-involved parents; handling crises; creating stronger partnerships
  • Staffing issues—Finding staff; vetting them; training them better; keeping them from burning out
  • Camper issues—Dealing with challenging camper behavior; learning new and improved ways to anticipate camper challenges; giving counselors additional tools; making decisions about taking or keeping challenging campers.
  • Marketing—Competing in the age of social media; being relevant while retaining camp traditions; reaching new audiences

Bob’s role will be to guide the discussion, provide observations, and offer additional resources to participants (books, articles, video clips, consultants, etc.).

Who: Camp directors with at least six years of camp administrator experience (both day and resident camp directors are welcome!). (As space is limited, only one director per camp can be accommodated at this time.)

When: The 2nd Tuesday of each month, October 2018 – May 2019, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm (October 9, November 13, December 11, January 8, February 12, March 12, April 9, May 14)

Space is limited to ensure a quality experience and a minimum of 15 participants is required for the series to be offered.
