ACA, New England & COVID-19
March 13, 2020
As you are likely aware, the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease, now classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organization, has caused much disruption to the way of life here in New England, throughout the country, and around the world. The health and safety of staff, participants, members, volunteers, and the community is paramount to everything that the American Camp Association stands for.
The national organization of the American Camp Association has prepared multiple resources and is actively updating a resource page on it’s website to inform camps about best practices for Coronavirus and communicable disease prevention and management. Click here to access these resources.
ACA, New England will continue to support camps as we work through this unprecedented challenge to our community. We are working on additional ways to provide the support you need as you plan your summer. You can rely on us and we will rely on your support, as well, as we navigate the impact of the challenging and everchanging landscape ahead.
At this time, our office in Lexington, MA remains open. Our small staff are safe, healthy, and comfortable in their environment and working diligently to provide the best service to our members. If you or your organization need assistance or advice, please contact us at 781-541-6080, you may also reach our Executive Director, Bette Bussel at bette@acanewengland.org.
Updates to the 2020 New England Camp Conference
The Board of Directors of American Camp Association, New England held a conference call at 2:00PM on Friday, March 13, 2020. The regrettable and unprecedented decision was made to cancel the traditional, in-person 2020 New England Camp Conference out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our members, conference-goers, vendors, guests, hotel staff, and community in Manchester, NH.
Our staff and volunteers are working hard to organize a virtual experience for Conference-goers on the same days as the originally planned conference, plans which will be communicated as soon as they are available.
All pre-conference workshops and other professional development events scheduled for March 2020 have also been postponed or reformatted.
