Congratulations on your retirement, Ron!

After 18 years working for Camp O-AT-KA Ron officially retired September 15th.  Labor Day weekend, Ron and Susan were "Roasted by the camp's board of directors at a gala dinner with more than 150 Friends of O-AT-KA in attendance. In addition to the "Friendly Roast" Ron and Susan were given a two week trip to Alaska which will take place next summer.

Ron and Susan will spend the next 2 months hiking and fishing out in Colorado and Utah while living in their RV, finishing the long anticipated adventure trip with a visit to one of their daughters who lives in North Carolina. Once they return to Maine, Ron will begin the process of finding work as a consultant in the world of non-profit organizations.  

The new Executive Director for  O-AT-KA is Kyle Tong  from Columbus, Ohio, where Kyle has taught at Columbus Academy for 18 years.  Kyle  was a staff member at camp between 1977 and 1980 and is the son of Kurt Tong, who worked at Camp from 1951-56.  Connor, their son, was a staff member from 2002-2008. In addition to his duties as a history teacher/department chair/Dean and varsity soccer coach at Columbus Academy, Kyle developed The Columbus Academy East Asia Institute, involving student and faculty exchanges with China.
