Jack Erler, Esq. of Portland, ME Receives Special Recognition Award at National ACA Conference

The Special Recognition Award honors groups, organizations, or individuals for their efforts to promote camp with a profound significance on a national level.

Jack Erler, Esq., flanked by Steve Sudduth, President of the ACA New England Board of Directors, (L) and Bette Bussel, Executive Director, (R), is an attorney with the firm of Curtis Thaxter LLC in Portland, ME, accepted the Special Recognition Award at the National ACA Conference in Alanta, GA. For more than forty years Jack has represented youth camps in all aspects of their operation. His work advising, representing, and lobbying for the Maine Youth Camp Association has been extensive within Maine, the New England region and on a national level. Most recently Jack consulted with ACA New England and the national ACA on commercial motor vehicle regulations as applied to youth camps.

A Standards Visitor, ACA Member, and recipient of the ACA New England Community Honor Recognition and the Halsey Gulick Award for distinguished service to the organized camping movement in Maine and New England, Jack has been connected to camp for more than 65 years as a camper, counselor, activity director, unit director, and assistant camp director.
