New England members receive awards at 2020 National Conference

Every year, the American Camp Association celebrates dedicated members of the camp community through their awards announced at the annual National Conference. In San Diego this year, three people from New England received awards or recognition for their hard work in supporting, promoting and bettering the camp world for all.

Hedley S. Dimock Award

Given to individuals who contribute to the field of camp from related professions, such as outdoor education, medicine, or social sciences.

We congratulate Dennis Regan, Senior Vice President, Camp America on being honored with this award in 2020. 


Marge Scanlin Outstanding Student Research Award

This award recognizes on student each year for his/her research related to the camp experience.

We congratulate Rachel Rubin, Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University, on being honored with this award in 2020. 


J. Wendell and Ruth T. Howe Golden Quill Award (Honorable Mention)

The Golden Quill and Golden Lens awards encourage excellence inwriting and photography. Chris was recognized for his article, “Motivating Change: When Being Stuck is the Sticking Point” from Camping Magazine, Sept/Oct 2019.

We congratulate Chris Overtree for being given an honorable mention for this award in 2020.
