Camp Champions Celebration Update from Bette Bussel, Executive Director

We’re just wrapping up the excitement that last year’s Camp Champions Celebration made possible—200+ children had the chance to attend 95 ACA Accredited day and overnight camps in CT, MA, ME, NH, RI & VT in the summer of 2014. I’m not sure who is more grateful and thrilled, all the Camp Champions supporters or all those lucky campers and their families! This is the emotion and energy that fuels the progress, planning and preparation happening now for our fourth annual Celebration.

The 4th Annual Camp Champions Celebration at Fenway Park will be here before we know it! And there is still time for you to support this important initiative and a way for you to attend the event if you’re not already planning to do so. You can be a huge help by doing the following: sign on as a Sponsor, buy a ticket, and/or donate to our Campership Fund. Join us as we honor camp philanthropist, Anna Gould, for founding and creating a camp, ACA Accredited Camp Sunshine, to respond uniquely to the needs of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Please consider becoming a Sponsor! Sponsoring provides visibility for your camp or business on our website and social media platforms. There’s a level that’s right for you and event tickets are included in each package. More about sponsoring and the camps and companies that have already signed on here. Tickets are on sale now. This is a fabulous and fun party with a camp-loving crowd that supports a cause that’s very near and dear to our hearts—making Camperships to ACA Accredited New England day and overnight camps possible for children-in-need. Your ticket includes Fenway Park tours, hors d'oeuvres, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a delicious buffet dinner and a fun evening in the ambiance of an historic, iconic Boston venue (even if it’s not the home park of my favorite team!). Donating to the Campership Fund is easy to do and we would be very appreciative if you could encourage those you know to help us make camp experiences possible for New England’s children in need.

I want to note too that all the publicity about the Camp Champions Celebration is beneficial for all ACA Accredited camps in New England. Please follow  our social media and website updates about the Camp Champions Celebration and about ACA New England. Heightened visibility about the Celebration and the work of our honoree highlights our summer camp world here in New England and the uniquely important role ACA Accredited camps play in helping families educate and raise children. There has already been media coverage about the work of Anna Gould, our 2014 Honoree telling the story of the camp she founded and why she’s receiving our award and joining a circle of distinguished individuals who truly are Camp Champions. Our thoughts are certainly with the family of former Mayor of Boston, Thomas M. Menino, who died yesterday. Mayor Menino was the second individual ACA New England honored as a Camp Champion. His award in 2012 was well-deserved for extraordinary work on behalf of children and families. Camp Champion, magnificent mayor, and wonderful person—may he rest in peace.

I hope to see you at Fenway Park on November 21st.

Bette
