Belmont Day School Summer Discoveries is seeking a Woodshop Specialist to teach woodworking skills to participants at our summer day camp, ages 8 to 14. Responsibilities will include, creating age-appropriate lessons plans and projects (that can be completed in 2-4 lessons); execution of lesson plans including teaching students basic skills of sawing, hammering, etc.; direction of 1-2 counselors per class in how to support presentation of projects. Classes and projects should teach children a progression of skills throughout their different ages. Younger children will learn basic skills and complete basic projects like tool boxes. Older children will complete more complex projects like birdhouse. Teaching elective courses as needed in wood or other areas.
