Job Description

Year-Round Summer Camps Office Manager/Athletics Program Assistant The Fessenden School, an all-boys independent day and boarding school in West Newton, Massachusetts, with approximately 510 students in Pre-K through Grade 9, seeks an experienced administrator to work in the School’s camp programs and athletics department. During the summer, Fessenden offers a robust co-ed summer program that includes 11 weeks of day camps offering traditional camp and sports and specialty camps. Fessenden seeks a seasoned camp professional to work with the Camps Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the Summer Camps program. During the school year, this position will support the administrative needs of the athletics department working with the Athletics Director during three seasons of interscholastic athletics for boys in Grades 5-9, and help manage Fessenden’s athletics facilities rentals.

The Summer Camps Office Manager will play a vital role in growing Fessenden’s Summer Camps, working closely with the Camps Director and the Chief Operations Officer of the school. On a daily basis, this position will have either primary or support responsibilities in enrollment and recruiting, marketing, staff hiring and coordination, as well as oversight of the general office. This is a hands-on role that is full-time, year round.

Qualifications & Skills:


  • 2 years consecutive related experience preferred
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve
  • Flexible team player who is comfortable working in a demanding, fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and set priorities to meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with English grammar and composition and excellent editing/proofreading skills;
  • Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service;
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities;
  • Current Driver's License and driving record that allows for driving school vehicles;
  •  Need to be able to lift up to 20 pounds;
  • Work authorization: United States (Required)


- Experience working in a year-round camp office preferred

- Strong technology skills, fluency with Google Apps, and comfort working with databases, preferably Campminder
