The Town of Merrimack Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader with strong communication skills to become the next Director of Naticook Day Camp.
The Camp Director provides the overall leadership and management of an eight week Summer Camp program for up to 120 children between the ages of 5 – 15 years old per week and 40 staff members. Naticook Day Camp operates on 46 acres in Wasserman Park on the site of a former residential camp creating the feel of overnight camp in a day camp setting.
The camp features a traditional assortment of day camp activities for children in Grades K – 8 as well as a field trip program for participants between the ages 12 – 15.
The Camp Director will work in conjunction with the Director of Parks & Recreation on the recruitment and selection of staff and will plan, direct and lead the day-to-day operations of the Camp. The Director will provide instructional supervision for staff; interact daily with families and community members, and will develop mutually respectful relationships with campers, parents and staff. This position is 40 hours per week beginning in Mid to Late June and running thru Mid-August with some pre-season planning and training hours required making it an ideal position for a teacher. Pre-season hours are flexible in nature.

- At least 2 years of leadership experience in a Day Camp or Sleep Away Camp setting. Past experience as a Camp Director or Administrator is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Early Childhood Education, Physical Education or related field is preferred. Combination of education and experience that indicates an ability to meet the requirements of the job are also acceptable.
- Current CPR and Standard First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain.
The qualified candidate shall have outstanding communication skills; and experience leading and supervising staff members is preferred.
