Program Head of Boating - Camp Beech Cliff


Job Description

We are a premier outdoor education day camp with 50 acres of woods bordering Acadia National Park and significant waterfront on Echo Lake. Camp Beech Cliff welcomes qualified applicants for the Program Head of Boating position. This instructor plans exploratory activities to help every camper improve, enjoy and participate in boating (sailing, kayaking, canoeing). The Program Head of Boating oversees and maintains the boating area including the cabin, docks, boats, systems for use, and enforces the boating area protocols with all campers and staff. All staff must adhere to the health and safety laws set forth by the State of Maine Dept of Human Services Youth Camps Division, and standards for accreditation with the American Camping Association.

Salary: Salary DOE and relevant certifications ($450 - $550 per week).


At least 21 years of age, and one year’s experience leading boating activities with children. Must enjoy working with children of all backgrounds, and be passionate about working outdoors and engaging campers ages 5 – 15. Must have the ability to plan a wide range of activities and programs throughout the summer and commit to Mid-June through end of August.


Sensitive and dynamic leadership is necessary to provide youngsters the opportunity to grow, learn to positively relate to others, establish life-long values, and increase their appreciation of the natural world. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and at least two years of direct experience in teaching boating to kids. Boating Safety Course certification required (we will train). If no degree, equivalent work experience preferred.
