The Barton Center for Diabetes Education is a residential summer camp with a mission to improve the lives of children with insulin-dependent diabetes through education, recreation, and support programs which inspire and empower.
The Barton Center runs two concurrent summer camps serving over 800 campers during 1 week, 2 week and 3 week sessions; Camp Joslin for boys and Clara Barton Camp for girls.
The Health Care Counselor works under the direct supervision of the Charge RN to assist with the smooth operation of the infirmary/health care center at camp.
The Health Care Counselor offers basic health care, including diabetes management, and facilitates educational sessions for campers.
Heath Care Counselors may be nursing students, PA students, medical students, EMTs or experienced members of camp staff who have demonstrated knowledge and skills appropriate to Health Care Counselor role.

We offer 2 weeks of paid training for new healthcare staff prior to camp starting. You will receive in-depth knowledge about type 1 diabetes and its management.
