Head of Waterfront - June 19 to August 17, 2017 - Camp Tevya

 

Job Description

  • To conduct “hands-on” workshops during staff training week for members of the aquatics staff
  • To oversee management, supervision and coordination and evaluation of waterfront staff, the American Red Cross swim program, sailing, boating and canoeing waterskiing, and windsurfing programs and schedules
  • To teach ARC Lifeguard and/or Water Safety Instructor’s certification programs
  • To assist with processing waterfront registrations and inspections including boat licenses and boat permits; delivery and pick up of all ski boats
  • To work with Director on EAP(Emergency Action Plan); its implementation; and schedule EAP drill once each session
  • To open, clean, organize and close waterfront/aquatics department
  • To lead any special waterfront events such as swim meets, water carnivals, etc.
  • To plan weekly waterfront department meetings
  • To attend weekly department head meetings
  • To prepare end of season report to use as planning document for the next season
  • To attend evening activities to assist with supervision
  • To chaperone camp trips, when called upon
  • To take office and Super OD on a rotating basis
  • Other administrative duties as required by the Director or Program Director

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in HPER(Health, Physical Education, Recreation), education, or leisure studies preferred
  • 2-5 years experience as assistant head of waterfront, waterfront department head, or aquatics program at a community center, day camp or residential camp; and working with children ages 8 to 15
  • Proven experiences and skills supervising and evaluating staff, and scheduling and monitoring the safety of the waterfront
  • Active and current American Red Cross certifications in: Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, Water Safety Instructor (WSI); LG IT(Lifeguard Instructor Trainer) and/or WSI IT(Water Safety Instructors Instructor Trainer); additional certifications from US Sailing, American Canoe Association, speed boat driver’s license, etc. preferred.
