Gymnastics Instructor and Camp Counselor - Fernwood Cove

 

Job Description

Empower Fernwood Cove campers to be the best version of themselves through active leadership and mentoring. Actively work in a global overnight camp community to organize and lead camp activities and events.

Provide safe, positive experiences for campers through our three-and-a-half-week traditional camp program. Provide quality gymnastics instruction to facilitate the skill development and learning of campers ages 7-15. Develop and instruct Gymnastics activities utilizing established program structure and guidelines. Insure gymnastics activities are safe, engaging, and fun for campers.

Supervise and lead campers through daily routines throughout each camp session. Actively facilitate the development of life skills such as communication, collaboration, inclusion, and relationship development while also developing bunk family activities and routines. Encourage and support campers based on their individual needs and goals. Ensure a physically, mentally, and emotionally safe camp experience for all Fernwood Cove campers.

Facilitate other activities and events that contribute to the overall Fernwood Cove program. Embrace leadership opportunities and continually seek opportunities for personal and professional development.

Time Frame: Seasonal

Salary: $900 - $1100/month

Requirements

Prior experience coaching/instructing sports to children.
Strong personal experience in gymnastics, including experience on all competitive apparatus.
Strong understanding of appropriate skill development and progression in recreation and competitive gymnastics programs.
Ability to work in non-climate controlled gym environment.
Willingness to complete other tasks and responsibilities related to being a camp counselor and living/working in a communal environment.
Ability to lift 30+ lbs and walk 3+ miles on hilly terrain daily.

Experience

Prior experience coaching/instructing traditional women's gymnastics activities. Coaching qualifications preferred.
Comfort in outdoor environment and participating in outdoor activities.

Additional Information

The Fernwood Cove Gymnastics program is housed in our state-of-the art gymnasium. It includes a competitive size floor, uneven bars, vault, balance beam and tumble track. The Gymnastics program is structured to provide campers of all experience levels appropriate level instruction and individual attention. Gymnastics counselors safely guide campers as they focus on personal goals while participating on each of the gymnastics elements, helping to ensure well-rounded development for each camper.
