Job Description

The Director of Leadership and Recruitment is a year-round role responsible for recruiting campers and managing staff to create the best possible experience for our campers and families. They will be responsible for meeting recruitment goals for the coming season by finding new avenues and providing great customer service to potential families. This Director will be the on-the-ground administrator in-season, ensuring staff are focused on their responsibilities and be a regular resource to handle any challenges, questions, or requests for both staff and campers. This role will provide staff direction and development both in and out of the summer season, cultivating a fun and professional culture focused on the camper experience. The Director of Leadership and Recruitment is a member of the senior administration of Camp Bauercrest.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be age 21+
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in management, leadership, outdoor recreation, or experience in relevant field
• 3-5 years of experience working in camp administration and/or youth program leadership
• Experience working in a camp environment, overnight camp preferred • Must be willing to live on camp while program is in session (mid-June through August)
• Able to be regularly active throughout the camp day.

RESPONSIBILITIES STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP
• Recruit, evaluate, and hire staff to specific roles to design the best team possible for program execution in service of campers
• Provide professional development opportunities for staff to develop as better counselors and leaders, both inside and outside of Bauercrest
• Manage counselors to be camper-focused and hold them accountable to the highest standard
• Be regularly available for staff and campers to resolve issues and offer support
• Provide staff with regular feedback for continuous development and improvement • Evaluate staff through goal-setting and regular feedback to achieve the highest level of performance and development
• Generate a common vision among all staff members through relationship building and collaboration • Develop a positive culture for both staff and campers to sustain ever-improving environment to better our campers

RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION 
• Coordinate Ambassador Program (our volunteer recruitment program) helping find new campers within the expanded communities of individuals associated with Bauercrest • Pursue leads to recruit new campers directly to camp
• Engage current camper base to improve retention and camper value to Bauercrest • Find new avenues to increase exposure of Bauercrest in key areas and outlets
• Provide high quality customer service to all current and prospective campers

PROGRAM DESIGN AND SUPPORT 
• Aid in the design of camp programming with the Assistant Director and other programming staff
• Oversee staff performance in assigned programs and supply feedback to improve
• Be proactive on camper issues within program to best prepare staff and campers for success
• Support rental groups by providing camp support and ensuring their program runs smoothly

CUSTOMER SERVICE
• Provide prompt customer service to parents and families concerning camper issues
• Aid staff with certain situations to resolve camper issues quickly and fairly
• Maintain fluid communication between staff, parents, and administration

VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT 
• Cultivate volunteer network to help with recruitment, retention, and programming both in-season and off-season
