4-H Camp Middlesex Job Description
Unit Director Overall Evaluate and supervise all counselors in your unit.
College graduate of at least 21 years old.
Have a desire to develop skills related to camp and working with children in the natural environment.
Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, live full-time in a residential camp setting, and commit to an entire nine-week employment period.
Position runs from the second to last week of June until the last week of August. See camp calendar for specific dates.
Plan all orientation training sessions
Train counselors of cabin responsibilities
Host teambuilding sessions with staff
Meet with Counselors and set forth expectations for the summer
Establish guidelines for:
Do nightly walk-throughs of cabin areas when on camp
Host weekly staff meetings on Wednesday nights
Lead/organize unit programming
With Head Counselor, evaluate teen staff twice per summer of cabin responsibilities and meet 1 on 1 with them to discuss
Support discipline matters with campers/counselors
Attend all LT morning meetings
Notify Summer Camp Director of all unit matters that need attention
Hand in all accident reports to Executive Director
Using support materials from camp office, host Sunday morning
Unit PD that addresses leading/child care concerns from the previous week
Host Weekly staff meeting with staff to address concerns and offer special praise as needed
Host Sunday Unit Meetings with the Head Counselor
Do night duty once a week
One weekend duty with campers
One weekend duty without campers
Give all evaluations to Summer Camp Director of counselors
Write up final evaluation to be handed in to the Executive Director
Ensure that all cabin areas are properly cleaned up
