Camp runs for 8 weeks in the summer, but the Assistant Director must be available for camp preparations and staff hiring beginning immediately, via phone, email, and Skype/FaceTime on weekends and some weeknights.
This position is seasonal and begins at the end of June, and end mid August (8 weeks). The Assistant Director provides leadership and supervision to the campers and staff. This person assists the director in all operations of the camp. He or she must demonstrate enthusiasm, friendliness, and fairness at all times. This person should also have skills in behavior management and supervision.
Responsible to: Camp Director
The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in all “on-site” operations of camp. In addition, the assistant director manages the daily schedule and all scheduling and assigning of campers and staff to classes each day. In the absence of the camp director, the assistant director is responsible for all camp operations. Supervision of staff and campers is a key component of this position. He of she secures the camp each evening and provides for the security of campers and staff. The assistant director participates in both verbal and written evaluations of staff.

Applicant should be at least 24 years old.
Should be able to be certified as an Alternate Camp Director as described by the State of Connecticut.
Must be able to work long days, up to 14 hours per day
Must be able to live in a small community environment
Must be able to communicate with staff, parents, and campers in a positive manner.This includes written communication as well as verbal.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to walk up and down hills and stairs to monitor classes and programs.
Bachelor’s degree in camp administration or childcare related fields.
At least 2 years experience in camp administration.
CPR/First Aid certification helpful.
Has participated in professional development in the areas of camping and child development.
