Seeds of Peace seeks a Camp Director to provide leadership on all aspects of programming, planning, and logistics for the Seeds of Peace Camp, as well as to support donor engagement and external relations. In the months when Camp is in session, June through August, the position will be based on the camp grounds in Otisfield, Maine. For the remainder of the year, this position will either be based in our New York City office or work remotely.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversees all aspects of camper programming, including link to larger mission and coordination with organizational values 
  • Coordinates on both vision and execution for Paradigm Shifter and Delegation Leader programs that take place at Camp, ensuring timely processes, program goals and correlation to larger Camp goals, in consult with the Director of Global Strategy and Programs 
  • Leads local staff on recruitment, selection, and preparation processes, including strategy, monitoring timelines for visas and other paperwork, guidance and oversight of preparation/orientation, and budgeting 
  • Works closely with development and communications staff to support donor engagement related to the Camp and programming, including but not limited to donor stewardship at Camp and offsite as needed, Board visits to the camp, Supporter visits to the Camp, in-kind donor prospecting and solicitation, and impact reporting. 
  • Participates in external relations related to the camp, including press visits to the camp, press interviews, and engagement with various camp-related stakeholders including relevant Board committees
  • Coordinates with camp ownership including leading conversations regarding long-term planning, facilities improvements, and coordinating alternative use of the property off-season
  • Oversees hiring, travel and payment processes for all Camp staff and all HR-related hiring procedures, coordinating on a timely basis with colleagues in Administration and Finance 
  • Designs and leads all staff training 
  • Provides input on monitoring and evaluation
  • Oversees ACA accreditation

Requirements

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience in a Camp environment
  • Trained on all legal aspects of youth supervision and responsibility, including Mandatory Reporting 
  • Ability to lead a diverse team and build an inclusive work environment
  • Experience working with young people 
  • Experience with programmatic fundraising and/or revenue generation
  • Ability to spend summer months at Camp in Maine while program is in session 
  • Ability to work virtually with staff based overseas
  • Ability to work across and adapt to many different constituencies 
  • Ability to speak publicly and motivate young people in accordance with our mission and values
  • Willingness to travel as needed 
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, all-encompassing environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree of equivalent 
  • Experience in program development a plus
