Brantwood Camp, founded in 1904, seeks a seasonal Camp Director for its residential Girls’ Camp. Brantwood is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing low-income and inner-city boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15 the opportunity to attend summer camp in a small residential setting. The boys and girls experience camp on separate campuses. The daily operation of each campus is overseen by a Camp Director who is responsible to the Executive Director. The Camp offers 3 16-day sessions throughout the course of the summer and the employment timeline is June 20th – August 22nd.

Responsibilities include:
• Daily supervision of 65 campers and 25 staff members
• Encourages positive leadership, quality programming, and ensures the health, well-being, and safety of staff and campers
• Overseeing the safe and quality implementation of an existing program which consists of athletics, team-building activities, swimming, hiking, ropes course challenges, and a variety of other traditional camp activities
• Evaluating staff performance
•Working with the Executive Director to provide training to the staff during the staff orientation week.
• Attends camp planning meetings
• Monitors expenditures and budget lines
• Ensures that the American Camp Association Standards and State of New Hampshire regulations are followed in all areas of Camp operations

Requirements

Minimum requirements for the position include:
• Bachelors degree
• Appreciation and understanding of the mission of Brantwood Camp
• Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience preferably in a camp setting
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing
• Experience as a leader in large group settings that includes work with children
• Ability to lead others towards the positive resolution of difficult situations
• Experience implementing camp programming
• Knowledge of computers and the skills to efficiently operate Microsoft Office
• Driver’s license, a reliable car, and the ability and willingness to travel to the Boston area and New Hampshire as necessary (approximately 6 times) during the off-season period

Experience

-Experience in a residential camp setting
-2 years supervisory experience in a camp setting
-Experience working with inner-city teens
