Position is responsible for planning, administering, and directing the daily operation of the Brook School Day Camp (BSDC) program. Position formulates and interprets policies and procedures; ensures compliance with state and federal regulations; administers a budget; and supervises/assesses departmental personnel to include assigned group coordinators.
- Assists in the training of Brooks School Day Camp staff.
- Establishes staff and student schedules and staff assignments to meet program needs.
- Responsible for developing and ensuring the BSDC employee handbook is updated and accurate.
- Plans, administers, and directs all aspects of the BSDC programs, special events and all-camp specialty programs.
- Facilitates the development, communication, implementation and evaluation of a shared vision that leads to camper engagement and retention.
- Assesses and identifies program needs and provides recommendations regarding future equipment, program and personnel requirements.
- Assists BSDC group coordinators within the assigned areas of responsibility with planning and implementing effective programs and resolving crisis situations.
- Assists the Director of Auxiliary Programs in determining staff allocations and with the selection, induction and retention of quality personnel.
- Prepares or directs the preparation of reports as required by federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
- Monitors attendance and approves all leadership staff time cards.
- Supervises the development of in-service programs and orientations for BSDC personnel.
- Prepares, monitors, and adheres to the BSDC budget in collaboration with BSDC leadership team and solicits funds to provide finical support for programs as needed.
- Conferences with parents/guardians of campers and resolves concerns.
- Collects and reviews records and evaluations for all activities, campers, staff and facilities.
- Prepare end-of-season reports with recommendations for the following season in all program areas.
- Maintains accreditation with the American Camp Association.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with students, parents, and summer programs staff.
- Attends and actively participates in leadership team meetings in the off-season and during summer to assist with staffing, planning, or overall program development as requested.
- Serve as a liaison between the Summer Programs office and BSDC leadership staff.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Candidates will have a background in education and/or summer camp administration as well as a passion for working with young people. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and current issues in the provision of summer camp programs. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive summer program. Must possess excellent leadership, supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents/guardians, the community, and administrative staff. Must be self-motivated and strong organizational abilities and attention to detail are essential.
