"It's Not Fair!": Things Kids Are Dealing With in a COVID-19 Camp World

"It's Not Fair!": Things Kids Are Dealing With in a COVID-19 Camp World

Following several months of decreased interpersonal opportunities and increasing anxiety, we should expect many of our campers to struggle upon "reentry." Whether they are able to express it verbally or they show it through behavior, campers will be looking to staff for extra reassurance, support and social scaffolding as they re-learn peer interaction skills, explore new group dynamics, and adjust to changes in structure, safety measures and summer camp as they have known it. Join Emily Golinsky of Bright Moose LLC Training, Consulting & Advocacy for a great session that will help you prepare your staff with strategies, key language, and proactive measures that will enable them to successfully support campers through this complex time.
This session will be recorded and posted on the national ACA COVID-19 Resource Page following the live session.

About the presenter:

Emily Golinsky’s trainings get called many things, and her favorites are: “tremendously helpful,” “definitely not the same-old-same-old,” “fun and informative” and “not to be missed!” Emily (“a wealth of information,” “knows what she’s talking about and does it with humor”) provides training and strategic support to camps, enabling success for staff and participants and helping manage behaviors from challenging to crisis. A frequent presenter at ACA conferences in several regions, she also sits on the Board of Directors for NHCamps, and volunteers with ACA NE as a Visitor, member of the Conference & Fund Development committees, and New Camp Directors’ Workshop faculty. Emily has a BS in Health Psychology and MS in Camp Administration/Leadership. She recently retired from her role as Executive Director at Camp Starfish in NH and launched Bright Moose LLC, a training/consulting/advocacy organization. She is passionate about camp and is an avid collector of terribly awesome puns.
