Campers Have Been Raising Camp Champions Funds to Give the Gift of Camp to Children in Need.
With our 6th Camp Champions Celebration around the corner, today we’d like to highlight some of our favorite philanthropists -- the children who have been busy raising funds so that children in need have the chance to experience summer camp. Yes, that’s right. Some of the funds raised for Camp Champions are generated come from campers’ effort and initiatives. Who knows better how great it is to attend camp in New England than campers in New England?
They were swimming in swimathons. They were baking, marketing and selling cookies at bake sales. They were engaged in many, many other entrepreneurial activities. The upshot: hundreds of children were willing to work hard to raise the funds that will make summer camp a possibility for a child who otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to attend a day or overnight camp!
Giving Back is a life skill and a positive value. Camps teach children how to give back. Camps inspire children to give back. Knowing how to pay it forward or make a difference in the lives of others can have such a positive impact on the how children participate in their families, schools and communities after camp! That’s why we’re shining the light on the significant amount of giving back that is camp-inspired and camp driven. Because camps create a tremendous sense of belonging for children, camp experiences help children define and redefine what it truly means to be a contributing member of a community. Inspired by strong role models and authentic opportunities, campers and camp staff are frequently motivated to make a difference for others.
You can see from our Sponsor and Donor lists that campers have been very supportive of Camp Champions this year. We are grateful for the Camp Champions funds they have raised and for the generous family and friend groups who have supported campers’ efforts to help ACA New England give the gift of summer camp to children in need.
Our 6th Camp Champions Celebration will be held on Thursday, November 10th to celebrate the true spirit of summer camp and to raise funds for ACA New England’s Campership Fund. 900+ children in need have had the chance to attend ACA Accredited day and overnight camps as a result of funds raised during the past five Camp Champions Celebrations.
