The dates for this class run from 5/30/2020-6/3/2020. The course will start promptly at 9:00 A.M. on the first day, and we will aim to finish up by 1:00 P.M. on the third day. Prerequisites: The minimum age is 15 Excellent physical condition and strong swimming strokes Only participants who pass the practical pre-test will be allowed to continue the course. Pre-test includes: Swim 20 yards, surface dive underwater (7 - 10 ft) for a 10 pound object and resurface, swim 20 yards on back at surface with object, exit water without ladder or steps (timed event, swim goggles not allowed) Swim 550 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles are allowed. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. You should place your hands under your armpits. Swim 5 yards, submerge and retrieve three dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4 to 7 feet of water, resurface and swim another 5 yards to complete. Certification: American Red Cross Lifeguarding with Waterfront Module. Includes First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Certifications valid for 2 years. Comments: All aquatics courses are physically demanding and occur in a fresh water lake. The temperatures in June can be extremely cold. We strongly recommend that you bring a wetsuit.
