Stephen Spaloss
Senior Vice President, Team Leadership
City Year, Inc.
Stephen Spaloss is a 28-year veteran of City Year, an organization that unites culturally diverse 17 – 24-year olds for a rigorous year of service, leadership development and civic engagement. Stephen began his City Year service in 1990 at the “request” of the New Hampshire court system.
Despite this dubious start, Stephen soon emerged a leader. He helped found numerous City Year sites and currently, as a Senior Vice President, oversees the training and development of over 350 front line managers who lead the corps into service in our 29 domestic locations. His rise within the organization bears witness to Stephen’s tenacity, commitment to youth and community, and his abilities as a leader, teacher, mentor, and advisor. Stephen is also a much sought after motivational speaker and has spoken at national conferences, before Congressional leaders, and in countless school and board rooms across the country.
Most important to Stephen is his role as a father to sons Jahi, Malik and Myles. Stephen is excited to help a new generation of urban youth change their life trajectory as City Year changed his. In Stephen’s own words, “Without City Year, I’d be dead or in jail.”

The New England Camp Conference has an educational endorsement from the American Camp Association and attendees will earn 16 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for full participation.
