Who Are ECPs?

ECPs are camp professionals who are new to their decision-making positions in resident or day camp. We work to integrate new professionals into the world of camping.
The ECP committee is made up of enthusiastic, young volunteers who are becoming or have become camp professionals. We aim to provide meaningful interaction and networking opportunities for like minded individuals who work to develop outstanding educational and social programs for emerging camp professionals. Read about how two ECPs spent their first summers as camp directors.

The ECP committee members represent a wide range of summer camp experiences. Collectively, they work at camps in five of the six New England states, at coed and single-sex camps, private and not-for-profit camps, and overnight and day camps.

Our Upcoming Events

  • Join us at Jillian's!  On the Friday evening of the ACA New England Annual Conference - March 26, 2010 - come to our traditional gathering at Jillian's, a short walk from the Center of New Hampshire Radisson in Manchester. It's a great opportunity to connect with new and old friends, catch up, and learn about summer camp and the work of the ECP committee. Time TBA.

ECP Programs and Opportunities

The ECP committee is committed to outreach, training, and networking. To that end,

  • We organize educational events throughout the year, often focused on helping young camp professionals prepare for preseason and the summer itself.
  • We coordinate social connecting events before or after ACA New England educational programming. During the ACA New England Annual Conference, we traditionally host an evening gathering at Jillian's. These social networking opportunities are a way for all ECPs to meet professionals in camping outside of the traditional conference sessions.
  • We offer an 'ECP Track' at the ACA New England Annual Conference that suggests certain workshops for like-minded professionals to attend.

How to Get Involved

Past Events

1/20/10: ECP hosted a presentation by the Connecticut Camp Guys on Creating a Camp University, which focused on smoothing pre-season staff orientation and creating staff manuals that staff might actually read. The session, held at ACA New England headquarters in Lexington, MA, was full - 50 participants! Afterwards, many retired to nearby Palio's Grill for networking and socializing.
